Premier Guitar recently caught up with Dead Weather bassist Jack Lawrence and crew to talk about fuzz, their intertwined roles and the EHX Bass MicroSynth. “When I use my Electro-Harmonix Bass MicroSynth pedal, Dean and I have to work together as a unit instead of the traditional drums locking in with the bass and the guitar playing melodies on top,” Lawrence explains. “That pedal has got a big sound with a sub-octave and square waves. If Dean and I aren’t locked in, those frequencies can eat up the guitar. But if it is balanced, it sounds really amazing.” Read the full interview here.

John Altieri, is a talented tubist currently on tour with David Byrne and St. Vincent in support of their new album, “Love This Giant.” John has shown us that EHX products can be used with traditional instruments in creative, new ways. With the use of some imagination and Velcro, John has attached an EHX Bass MicroSynth and a microphone to his horn. As the sole bass player in the band, this allows him to manipulate the tone of his sousaphone to fit and fill all of the bottom-end roles.

EHX friend Jack Conte was recently interviewed by Gretchen Hasse of Gearwire.

It seems Jack peaked Gretchen's levels when he talked about his Bass Micro Synthesizer, so be sure to listen to the audio interview here:

The interview references Jack's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" -- which we also blogged about that a little while ago, copied below for convenience:

Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" as realized by EHX pal Jack Conte. It should be easy enough to spot the Deluxe Memory Man and Deluxe Electric Mistress, extra points for the Bass Micro Synthesizer.

Our new EHX Strings Electro-Harmonix electric guitar strings are custom-designed to our specifications and made in the USA by a premiere string manufacturer. Each wound string is precision wrapped with round nickel-plated steel onto a high carbon, hexagon-shaped steel core. The plain strings are made from the same high carbon steel as the hex cores. The high quality steel and computer controlled winding process results in strings that intonate accurately, are better at staying in tune and vibrate evenly for maximum sustain.
Dig it, now you can rock EHX in our new heavy-duty black hoodie! It’s emblazoned with the iconic Electro-Harmonix Flashback logo in white on the left chest and back.
